Hotel Vela

Hotel Vela is a 16-room boutique hotel in downtown Gulfport, set inside one of the city’s historic buildings and close to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The hotel retains original brickwork and timber flooring, with interiors that reference Gulfport’s past through warm wood finishes, four-poster beds and locally inspired details. Its small size gives it a more intimate feel than the larger hotels and casino resorts found along the coast.

Downstairs, Siren Social Club is the hotel’s speakeasy-style restaurant and cocktail bar. The menu covers raw bar dishes, Gulf seafood, steaks and handmade pasta, alongside a strong cocktail selection. It is led by Austin and Tresse Sumrall, the husband-and-wife team behind the acclaimed White Pillars restaurant in nearby Biloxi.
